Polish sabres decorative

The sabre is a kind of sword with a curved blade, used usually for slashing or cutting. It has a big hand guard that covers knuckles, forefinger and thumb. This kind of weapon developed most probably in Turkic Central Asia around 9th century, but it noticeably derives from Germanic seax and Greek makhaira. It is often associated with Napoleonic Wars, when it was commonly used by heavy cavalry.

In this section, you can find a wide range of replicas of Polish sabres. They often refer to a particular army, for example hussars and uhlans. You can even order an exact 1:1 copy of the weapon that belonged to king Stefan Batory.
