Originated from Yemen knife Janbiya was particularly popular in 17th and 18th century. Used in Arabic countries, Turkey, Iran and India. It is combat knife but used also at the rituals and dances. The janbiya hilt testifies of the status of the owner who worn its by the side. The whealthiest man has hilt made of African rhinoceros horn.
