Emblems and panoply

Panoply is a decorative and symbolical motif, usually consisting of melee weapons combined with armor, for example shields, breastplates or helmets, and an emblem. The word derives from Greek panoplia, which was the name for the full equipment of a hoplite. In the past, the weapons were hanged on a wall inside a house in order to grab them quickly in case of a sudden assault. Nowadays, it carries a mostly decorative meaning. In some models, you can take out the swords if you like and then put them back again.
