The presented sabre is an exact reconstruction of Polish military sabre wz. 34. This technically perfect sabre was designed in 1934 by Military Institute of Armament Technology in Warsaw. Produced to the 1939 in Kielce’s steelworks Huta Ludwików. Named “Ludwikowka” from the place of production. In the Polish army equipment there were 40 000 pieces of wz. 34.

The blade is lightly curved, with engraved white eagle with crown and inscription “GOD HONOUR HOMELAND” surrounded by floral decorations. Second side of the blade is smooth, able to engraving. The top of the blade is so-called feather – double-edged blade used to thrusts. Original sabres had marked “H. LUDWIKÓW KIELCE”.
The handle is fully closed. The grip was made of beech wood, notched on both sides by fullers and connected by two steel screws. The back side of the grip is covered by brass hood. The cross-guard made of brass, has relatively short, wide moustache, finished rectangular.
This weapon had to passed very hard technical tests to undergo:
- when dropped free from the height of 2 meters it was to pierce a steel sheet 2 millimetres thick
- cut five 5 millimetres steel bars without damaging the edge
- survive a powerful blows into a hardwood stub with the flat and the spine
- the blade pressed against a hardwood stub was to bend 150 millimetres to either side without breaking or deforming
